A melody on the way home can become the song you bring to rehearsal. Record it on Android, put the words beside it and keep developing the idea in one project.

From a phone recording to a working song

  1. 1 Create a project for the song you want to work on.
  2. 2 Record a melody or import an audio file already on your phone.
  3. 3 Add a lyric note and insert the take beside the lines you want to sing.

Give a phone recording a next step

Import a riff from your phone or record a fresh vocal idea in the project. Name it for what makes it useful: “chorus — rising last line”. Add a note about the next phrase to try, so the idea has a starting point when you return.

Try the words with your own voice

Open a project note, write a few lines and record directly inside it. Listen while you edit the lyric. Keep a second take when you want to compare two endings, and add tags to distinguish the parts of the song.

Rhymes above the keyboard

  • Finish a line and rhymes for the one that needs a pair come up above the keyboard. One tap and they are in the lyric.
  • The ones that fit the syllable count carry a dot.
  • Free, offline and in 7 languages.
How rhymes work

Chords over the lyrics, with sound

  • Tap a chord in the bar and it stays over its syllable. Tap it in the lyric and it plays on guitar, piano or ukulele.
  • Move the key up or down for your voice and play the progression at tempo with play mode.
How chords work
A lyric with its chords above the words in the Zoundroom app on Android, with the chord bar above the keyboard and the key, capo and Play buttons at the top.

Can I write lyrics and record in the same note?

Yes. Record directly inside a note, or insert existing audio. You can listen while you write.

Can my iPhone bandmates join?

Yes. Share a project invitation code. Your collaborator signs in with their own account on iOS, Android or the web.

Can I continue with a keyboard on my computer?

Yes. Open the webapp with the same account and an internet connection to access the project and continue writing. Rhymes as you write and the chords over the lyrics are there too. Chord sound and play mode are only on the phone for now.
